Magnitude 3.7 Earthquake Struck San Francisco Area

A magnitude 3.7 earthquake with its heart at San Francisco`s worldwide airport rattled the Bay Space Friday night however there have been no experiences of injury.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported the minor quake struck about 7 miles beneath the San Francisco Worldwide Airport at round 7 p.m.

The airport is between the San Andreas and Hayward faults, making it an energetic area for earthquakes, Robert de Groot, a ShakeAlert operations group lead with the Geological Survey, informed the San Francisco Chronicle.

He referred to as it a “backyard selection earthquake,” the Chronicle reported. The earthquake initially registered larger however was downgraded.

The San Francisco Division of Emergency Administration stated on X, previously generally known as Twitter, that there have been no experiences of injury.

Airport spokesman Doug Yakel informed the Bay Space Information Group the quake had “no affect to SFO operations.”
